Clinic Doctors | Eye Exams
At Wheaton Eye Clinic, a comprehensive eye examination includes a visual acuity exam as well as additional tests that can reveal medical conditions that may threaten your eyesight or general health. Examinations are performed by either an ophthalmologist or an optometrist.
An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who has completed four years of college, four years of medical school, one year of internship, three years of an ophthalmology residency and further training in a subspecialty fellowship. An optometrist is a specially trained Doctor of Optometry who has completed four years of college and four years of post-graduate study at a college of optometry.
Because the eyes are important indicators of disease, it is prudent to have a comprehensive eye examination annually.
