Carolyn S. Oesterle, M.D., certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Her practice includes comprehensive eye care and treatment for children, from newborns to early teens, as well as adults with eye muscle problems.
Dr. Oesterle graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan in 1971 with a B.S. in chemistry. She graduated with highest distinction from Northwestern University Medical School in 1977. She held an internship at Evanston Hospital, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C in 1982.
Dr. Oesterle has been a Clinical Associate at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago for fifteen years. She does most of her surgery locally at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She is especially interested in strabismus and strabismus surgery. She works with the anesthesiology department to be sure a child’s surgical experience is as pleasant as possible.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Oesterle is also a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the Chicago Medical Society.
Dr. Oesterle has been married for 30 years and has two teenage children. She enjoys skiing and sailing with her family and shares a love of horseback riding with her daughter.
