Jon P. Gieser, M.D., certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in the treatment and surgery of the retina and vitreous for a broad spectrum of diseases including retinal detachment, macular holes, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Gieser received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He completed a residency at the University of Michigan W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago. Dr. Gieser has published on topics including application of computer information technology to ophthalmology, advanced techniques for retinal surgery, and retinal electrophysiology.

A retina-vitreous specialist at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, Dr. Gieser is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.

Dr. Gieser is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Illinois Medical Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and the Christian Medical and Dental Associations.
