Richard G. Gieser, M.D., certified by the American Board
of Ophthalmology, specializes in retinal-vitreous disease.
Diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and macular degeneration
are among the many diseases treated by Dr. Gieser.
Dr. Gieser received his medical degree from Baylor University in Houston, Texas. His residency was at the Illinois University Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Gieser completed a fellowship in retinal surgery at New York Hospital. Dr. Gieser was born in China where his father was a missionary doctor.
Dr. Gieser is
a Clinical Professor Emertis in retinal disease and surgery
at Loyola Medical School. By request, Dr. Gieser also teaches
abroad. He has taught at medical schools in China, India,
Pakistan, Bulgaria, Romania, Nigeria, Uganda, Siberia, and
Afghanistan.
Dr. Gieser is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Christian Medical Society.
Dr. Gieser examines patients on referral from other physicians.
