Thomas S. Michelson, M.D., certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for correcting nearsightedness and astigmatism. Dr. Michelson is one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in Chicagoland, performing over 1,000 LASIK procedures annually.

Dr. Michelson is a graduate of the University of Health-Sciences-Chicago Medical School, where he also completed an internship in internal medicine. His residency in ophthalmology at Loyola University was followed by a fellowship at the Illinois Cornea Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. His fellowship included in-depth training in advanced corneal refractive surgical techniques including radial keratotomy, ALK and excimer laser surgery.

Dr. Michelson is a certified VISX Excimer Laser and LASIK surgeon and has become a leader among his peers in corneal refractive surgery. As Medical Director for the Corneal Refractive Surgical Service at The Center for Surgery in Naperville, Illinois, Dr. Michelson instructs and proctors ophthalmologists and technicians in the use of the VISX Excimer laser for LASIK. His significant experience with the excimer laser greatly benefits those now beginning to learn.

Dr. Michelson is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
