Eye Care

Like the rest of your body, your eyes are a delicate system that require regular checkups and care. There are a variety of illnesses that can affect your vision. It is important that you have a regularly-scheduled comprehensive exam to maintain healthy eyes and to prevent and treat eye disease.

Amblyopia. Sometimes referred to as "lazy eye," amblyopia is poor vision in an eye that did not develop normal sight during childhood. [read more]

Astigmatism. Unequal focusing of different parts of an image caused by an irregular-shaped cornea. [read more]

Cataracts. A cloudiness or opacity in the eye's natural lens. [read more]

Corneal Disease. Disease of the clear disc that covers the iris and pupil. [read more]

Diabetes. Diabetic eye disease, a group of eye problems that affect those with diabetes, includes diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and glaucoma.[read more]

External Disease. Disease of the eyelid, tear duct and the area around the eyes. [read more]

Glaucoma. A disease of the optic nerve that occurs when the pressure in the eye becomes higher than normal. [read more]

Hyperopia. A condition that causes distant objects to appear clearer than near objects due to the eyeball being shorter than normal.[read more]

Macular Degeneration. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common eye disease associated with aging that gradually destroys sharp, central vision. It is one of the leading causes of legal blindness and vision impairment in older Americans. [read more]

Myopia. A condition that causes distant objects to appear blurred while near objects are clear due to the eyeball being longer than normal. [read more]

Ocular trauma. Injuries to the eye can cause significant and permanent visual damage. More than 100,000 eye injuries occur annually and the majority of these accidents occur in younger people. [read more]

Retinal Detachment. Separation of the retina from the underlying pigment epithelium. Retinal detachment can lead to total blindness if not treated. [read more]

Strabismus. A common misalignment of the eyes caused by muscle imbalance found in children and adults of both sexes. [read more]

Uveitis. Inflammation of the uvea, the vascular (middle) layers of the eye, between the sclera and the retina. [read more]
