Melinda

Her more than
twenty-five years as an optician have taught Melinda that
if she is responsible and respectful of her patients' needs,
she can always find the right solution for them. “But
there’s a side to me that enjoys trying to break my
patients out of their old habits. I like to get them out
of the style they’re used to by presenting them with
new looks. After all, people with silver hair, don’t
automatically have to go with silver frames. True style
encompasses so much more involving skin tone, eye color,
facial features, traditional or contemporary preferences.”
When Melinda isn’t working
at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, she’s likely to be doing
any one of three favorite pastimes: perfecting her Karate,
(she has third degree black belts in three different systems),
and is busy pursuing a fourth degree black belt in each,
playing the oboe, or enjoying time with her Jack Russell
Terrier Puddin’. Melinda has been playing the
oboe since she was very young and plays professionally with
The New Philharmonic Symphony at the College of Du Page
and the DuPage Opera Theatre. As for Puddin’, Melinda
admits her rotating batch of desktop dog photos helps break
the ice with kids and adults alike. “Everyone loves
to see Puddin’s latest costumes. People tell me I
ought to write a book featuring Puddin’ and maybe
someday I will!” |
