David K. Gieser, M.D. specializes in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.

Dr. Gieser received his undergraduate degree Cum Laude from Wheaton College and is a graduate of the University of Illinois Abraham School of Medicine in Chicago. His internship in internal medicine at Hines Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago was followed by a residency at the Eye and Ear Infirmary of the University of Illinois and a fellowship in glaucoma at Washington University in St. Louis.


Dr. Gieser is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and served on the Board of Directors of Spectrios Institute, formerly Deicke Center for Visual Rehabilitation, for 16 years. He served as Chairman of the Deicke Board for 14 years and is Past-President of Wheaton Eye Clinic.

Dr. Gieser has published numerous medical journal articles and has lectured in Kenya, Rwanda, Congo and Burundi on various aspects of the diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. In addition, he has taught numerous continuing medical education courses at national ophthalmology meetings. Dr. Gieser’s particular research interest is the pharmacological management of glaucoma and he has served as a principle investigator for several pharmaceutical companies in the development of new medications. He also has served on the Vision Rehabilitation Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.


Dr. Gieser is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.


Dr. Gieser is a member of the Illinois State Medical Society, the DuPage County Medical Society, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the Chicago Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
