Dr. Gieser specializes in the treatment and surgery of the retina and vitreous for a broad spectrum of diseases including retinal detachment, macular holes, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Gieser received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He completed a residency at the University of Michigan W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.
Dr. Gieser has published on numerous topics including application of computer information technology to ophthalmology, advanced techniques for retinal surgery, and retinal electrophysiology. He also served on the editorial board of one of ophthalmology’s largest medical journals, JAMA Ophthalmology. A retina-vitreous specialist at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, Dr. Gieser also held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.
