Education

A graduate of Rush Medical College in Chicago, Dr. Williams completed an internship at West Suburban Hospital Medical Center in Oak Park, IL. This was followed by a residency in ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center. She completed a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of California in San Francisco.

Experience

Dr. Williams serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, including a term as President of this organization that represents 32,000 ophthalmologists globally. She chaired the ophthalmology section of the American Medical Association for nearly a decade.

Dr. Williams is Chief Medical Editor of EyeNet Magazine where she writes a monthly editorial on issues in healthcare. She is Vice-Chair of Glaucoma Research Foundation, an organization that initiates and supports innovative research to find a cure for glaucoma.

Dr. Williams gives invited and named lectures at medical conferences and academic departments in the U.S. and globally. She is frequently interviewed for medical publications and mainstream media as a subject matter expert. She is an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Most importantly, Dr. Williams is a fierce advocate for glaucoma patients. She promotes access to superb and compassionate care, education about glaucoma treatments and
outcomes, and research that leads to prevention and restoration of vision.
