Dr. Gieser is a boar-certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He provides medical and laser treatment for patients with glaucoma, a disease characterized by progressively worsening damage to the optic nerve.
Following his graduation from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Dr. Gieser completed a residency in ophthalmology at Yale University. Because of his interest in blindness prevention in developing countries, he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins University. His additional two years of fellowship training included glaucoma specialization at the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Gieser has lectured at over 100 national and international ophthalmology meetings. He has published many scientific articles, including eight text book chapters. In 1991, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to investigate eye diseases in India.
