Madeline M. Coughlin, O.D.

Specialization

Dr. Coughlin specializes in comprehensive optometry for adolescents and adults. She supports a number of our physicians in comprehensive care, refractive and cataract surgery consultations, and advanced refractive sessions. Dr. Coughlin believes in prioritizing compassionate, individualized care in order to help each patient understand how their functional and ocular needs may change over their lifetime.

Education

Dr. Coughlin graduated from Hope College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in French. She earned her doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

Experience

After graduation, Dr. Coughlin completed a Primary Care Residency with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at the Daytona Beach VA Outpatient Center. During her residency, she had the opportunity to co-manage patients with local ophthalmologists and gain further insight from clinical and surgical observations at Florida Retina Institute, Tamoka Eye Associates, and the Orlando VA Medical Center.

Dr. Coughlin is committed to growing in her profession by attending events and continuing education meetings associated with the Illinois College of Optometry, Illinois Optometric Association, Fox Valley Optometric Society, and the American Academy of Optometry.

Personal

In her free time, Dr. Coughlin enjoys time with friends and family, attending live music events, traveling, visiting the Art Institute, and spending time outdoors.
