Wheaton Eye Clinic is happy to announce two new physicians who have joined our team: Joel Kovoor, M.D., General Ophthalmology and Ayesha Badar, M.D., Glaucoma.

Dr. Kovoor is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon who provides general eye care for adults and older children. He diagnoses and treats medical diseases and disorders of the eye, and specializes in refractive cataract surgery with a focus on optimizing outcomes using the latest technology. Dr. Kovoor earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stony Brook University where he graduated as University Valedictorian. He earned his Medical Doctorate at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Badar earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her internship at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois, followed by her ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at Indiana University, where she was recognized as Resident of the Year and Fellow of the Year. Dr. Badar provides comprehensive care for patients with cataracts and glaucoma. She performs cataract surgery and offers a range of glaucoma treatments, including medications, laser procedures, and surgery. She previously served on the clinical faculty at Loyola University Medical Center, where she cared for patients with complex eye conditions and trained the next generation of ophthalmologists. She also provides comprehensive ophthalmic care to veterans at the Hines VA Hospital, managing advanced disease in a diverse patient population.
